Mrs. Mott's 3s Class News
April 22nd - April 26th 2024
Last Week:
On Wednesday, the children said goodbye to the sweet little chicks. 🐥 We had a wonderful learning experience as we patiently waited for the eggs to hatch and then to see them grow and get stronger each day. We know that the chicks are happy living their best life on the farm!
We discussed Earth Day and learned about the importance of recycling, picking up litter, planting trees, and saving water. The children used watercolors to create their own Earth - blue for water and green for land. 🌎♻️
This Week:
Theme: Nursery Rhyme “Jack and Jill”
Jack And Jill
“Jack and Jill went up the hill
to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown
And Jill came tumbling after.”
Through this nursery rhyme we will discuss helping one each and how teamwork is important. We will also practice gross motor coordination with balance. We will spend some time in our “big room” this week using the balance beam and also playing a relay race game.
In this nursery rhyme we will point out rhyming words “hill/Jill” and “down/crown”
and review opposites such as, “up/ down”.
Project:
The children will create either a Jack or Jill puppet. We will add facial details, hair, and clothing to our paper bag puppets. At the end of the week, the children will put on a puppet show. They will practice taking turns to be the puppeteer and also to be a polite audience member.
Books:
Thursday: Yoga with Ms. Dawn (wear comfy clothes)
Snack helpers of the Week:
Ella, Kiara, Liam, and Luci
Reminders/Updates:
End of year conferences will take place on Thursday, May 23rd. Conferences are set up in 15 minute blocks. A sign up genius will be sent out early May.
Discovery Friday:
We discussed Earth Day and read the book, “I am Earth”. We learned that one way to care for our Earth is by planting flowers and trees. The children made “Earth Day Seed Balls”. These can be planted directly into the soil and they will sprout wild flowers. Be sure the “Seed Ball” is moist before planting. The children enjoyed tearing paper and using the blender to create their “tiny Earth”. 🌱🌲
